Woven Dunes
Woven Dunes delves into the concept of leaving new traces in unfamiliar territory. By incorporating motifs from Persian carpets, the work connects to my cultural heritage, while the reference to Japanese Zen gardens evokes a sense of newfound tranquility. The interactive nature of the piece encourages viewers to engage, with a sensor at the bottom of the wooden plate amplifying the sound of the sand as participants interact with it. This auditory dimension deepens the sensory experience, reflecting the traces we leave behind and the marks we make in new environments. AI was used to assist in creating the visuals, blending the traditional with the contemporary to emphasize the fusion of past and present.
This artwork was exhibited in Buenos Aires, Argentina, during my residency at ACE, embodying my belief in the power of art to foster healing and connection. Woven Dunes invites reflection on the immigrant experience and the ways we navigate and shape unfamiliar spaces.
