On my own terms
Time is more illusionary than commonly perceived. We often assume it's rigid and structure our lives around it. My work challenges this concept of timekeeping. I've created an unconventional clock with unexpected properties that defy the relentless pace of modern life. This clock grants us control over our perception of time's passage, allowing us to live 'on our own terms.' It's also a commentary on our struggle against time, aging, and mortality. The clock features three distinct behaviors for its time indicator LEDs: pausing time to savor moments, slowing it for romantic or therapeutic experiences, and even reversing time through old photos, invoking nostalgia and the dream of reliving the past. The choice of green and red LEDs, akin to traffic lights, symbolizes how timers often dictate life's 'go' and 'stop' points, demanding adherence.
